We talk inspiration, Zuzana Licko’s typography and the complexity of UI/UX design with Obsessed Agency’s newest Digital Design Director, Victoria Barnes.
What does design mean to you?
Design is the process of marrying information and ideas together through process and planning.
Who inspires you and why?
Definitely Zuzana Licko , one of the early pioneers of digital typography. I’m inspired by her mathematical, intellectual approach to typography. The anatomy of her type is a study of balance and proportion but with an expressive, timeless take. It makes sense because her father was a mathematician.
How would you describe your design?
I might use the words sustainability, neo-minimalism, and playful to describe my point-of-view. But being translatable combined with the ability to apply my design principles across multi-platforms within diverse client narratives is important, too.
What are you currently obsessed with?
Currently, I am obsessed with creating maps for UI/UX design. Solving how to get a user from point A to point B with fewer steps and an organic flow of information as it relates to the user experience is surprisingly satisfying in a Sudoku-puzzle-solving-kind-of-way.
